About
Beth Preston is an alt-folk and indie-pop artist whose music cuts straight to the marrow of what it means to be human. With a voice often compared to Fiona Apple and Jeff Buckley, she creates songs that hold space for the full sweep of emotion—grief and hope, longing and release, struggle and the quiet moments of beauty that carry us forward.
Beth first emerged in the mid-2000s with her raw and intimate debut Inside Fire, recorded in a friend’s garage in California. Even in those early days, her magnetic performances led her to national and international touring opportunities, sharing stages with globally recognized artists including Xavier Rudd, and Michael Franti and Spearhead. As life expanded, her artistry deepened. After years of writing, self-discovery, and refining her craft, she returned with Little Mirrors (2016), a sonically rich collaboration co-produced with Phil Parker (former bandmate of Brandi Carlile, Gregory Alan Isakov, and current member of Michigan based Metal Bubble Trio).
Now entering the most compelling chapter of her career, Beth is preparing to release Near Future, a bold new project that fuses storytelling and heart with more expansive sound design. The first singles—“As You Wake,” an atmospheric ode to letting go, and “For Love,” a punchy, electronic anthem—arrive in late 2025, ushering in an era where folk-rooted expression meets modern, cinematic energy. Her upcoming live shows reflect this evolution, incorporating acoustic guitar, vocal looping, synth textures, and dynamic band elements for a multidimensional experience.
At the core of Beth’s music is a devotion to understanding—of ourselves, of each other, and of how we endure. She writes for anyone navigating the difficult edges of being human, offering songs as a place to breathe, feel, and reconnect. Beyond the stage, she brings this mission into one-on-one vocal and creativity guidance work, inspired by her training in Hakomi therapy, helping others find courage in their own self-expression.
2025 also found her creating children’s music under the project name Kindlewood, a wholesome world designed around compassion and belonging, who’s debut album “Welcome to Kindlewood” has warmed the hearts of many. While distinct, the two musical projects are connected—two branches of the same tree—both rooted in care, imagination, and the belief that connection can heal.
With Near Future on the horizon and a revitalized live stage presence, Beth Preston steps into this next season with clear purpose: to make music that lifts the veil, honors the heart, and helps people feel less alone in the world.
